Autumn's favorite part of working with animals is developing unique relationships and bonds with each pet. She loves learning their personalities and boundaries, and most importantly, earning their trust as a safe human in what can sometimes be a scary or new environment.
Autumn is a proud pet parent to a wonderful crew:
- Scarlett Rose is a 6-year-old Golden Retriever and 1000% a water dog who loves to swim! She'll always greet you with whatever she can fit in her mouth when she's excited.
- Theodore Riggs, a 3.5-year-old Boykin Spaniel, is another water-loving dog who enjoys swimming, retrieving, and even dock diving. His calm demeanor sets him apart from the typical Boykin, and he lives in South Carolina as her dad's support dog.
- Moo Louise, a 9-year-old Domestic Short Hair (DSH), is Autumn's first and oldest cat. Found with a fractured hip as a 6-week-old kitten, her growth was stunted, making her a "purrrfect forever kitten." Moo is Autumn's certified emotional support animal and the reason she got into veterinary medicine.
- Sansa Francine, a 4-year-old DSH, is one of four Game of Thrones-named cats Autumn adopted. Born in an emergency vet hospital, she has a rare blood type (Type B) and was a blood donor candidate. This whopping 20-pound (formerly 24-pound!) cat is an A+ cuddler with a very sassy mouth.
- Arya, affectionately nicknamed "Poot," is a 1-year-old Blue Russian mix. Autumn instantly fell for Arya when she came into an emergency hospital, covered in feces from diarrhea. Arya loves long car rides, riding on Autumn's shoulders, and "birb watching" on Saturday mornings.
When she's not caring for animals, Autumn loves to attend music festivals or conventions. Her go-to comfort food is chicken bog.
A surprising fact about Autumn is her extensive background in animal care, starting in pet stores in 2015 before moving into veterinary medicine. She began as an assistant/technician at a nonprofit clinic, then worked in general practice with exotics for 3.5 years, and spent about 4 years in Emergency & ICU in South Carolina and North Carolina before recently joining the team at Ghent & Granby. While emergency and ICU care is a strong passion, she holds the same love for general practice.
